30 Day Coloring Challenge Hop!

Welcome to "The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge" Blog Hop. If you're coming from the Simon Says Stamp blog then you're in the right place!!!

I've created a card using my favorite coloring medium which are colored pencils. I like how sharp I can get the points for detail and shading when coloring.

I've kept things fairly simple, coloring my flowers in three different tones.  This stamp is from the Roses for You stamp sets from Simon Says Stamp.

My goal was to follow the spiral of each flower, to create a bit of dimension and to fade to white in the centers. For blending, I've used two to three pencils in different values of each color. I also use a white pencil to smooth out my coloring.

One of my favorite things about coloring and shading with pencils is the ability to lighten and highlight using a white eraser.

I have created a video of the process. You can view it below or on my YouTube channel

Your next stop on the hop is to my funny friend...

Additional information about the challenge:
Kathy from The Daily Marker is hosting her fourth coloring challenge called, “The Daily Marker 30 Day” it’s a super fun challenge and a great way to get full use of your supplies.

THE GOAL IS: To color something daily even if it's a few minutes but, certainly not required.

CAN YOU PARTICIPATE in the 30 DAY CHALLENGE? Yes!

WHAT'S NEW THIS TIME? Kathy will have a weekly feature that she will be sharing on her blog that showcases some of your work every Sunday. Read more on Kathy’s blog.  When sharing your work on social media, use #TheDailyMarker30Day

Beautiful card! Thanks for sharing your pencil technique! I haven't tried pencil too much, but I love the look!

I've discovered I like coloring pencils too! I've been watching several coloring pencil videos and I've been putting down the light color first, then the two other shades in the shadows and then using the lighter tinted pencil to blend everything together. I have both the white pencil and the blender pencil, but like the lighter tint pencil the best to blend colors together with. Lovely roses you had there!

This is beautiful and I appreciate that you used colored pencils. I have a background that I stamped on printed paper and want to add color with pencils. I think you're right about the Prismacolor pencils being creamier and thanks for the tip on blending with the white pencil. I had been using a blending pencil only, but can see from your card that a white pencil is perfect sometimes. Thanks for the video!

Oh my gosh! I don't have that stamp but I love how you did that with the black strip down the card. That is so different! Guess what technique I am going to be trying? I love my colored pencils and my sister got me for Christmas some beautiful colored chalk pencils that I am having so much fun using! I have some really cool colored pencils that are different colors in one pencil that I love and most of mine are a soft led. I also just got a box of 64 crayoned colored pencils that I love because I have never had that many colors in pencils before. They aren't the soft lead that I like but I am so amazed at all the colors. Crayola gave me a $4.99 coupon and look what I bought! LOL I want to watch your video to see how you did some of what you did. I think I know but I am going to watch anyway. Thanks for showing me a new way to make a card!
