Art to share...and some ramblings

Hello??? Is this thing on??? Are you there?? lol

I have the WORST blogging skills EVER!! . Seems I just get caught up in work and home stuff. I am good at throwing quick pictures up on Instagram though if you want to catch up on my day to day stuff.

So... Let me take you back to November... Heidi and I went on an creative adventure to the studio of Tim Holtz! It was absolutely amazing!! A once in a lifetime opportunity!!! While we were there, Mario cooked us the most delicious meals, seriously!! Tim surprised us with the idea of creating a mini canvas using pretty much the same supplies. We used a basic layout inspiration and then jumped into creating!
And here are the results.

Left to right: Heidi, Shari, Tim

I love this picture of the 4 of us, especially Mario peeking in over Heidi... too cute!

 Super fun times!

So back to reality and life...

Christmas was super fun with Melody, she's almost at the age of understanding the magic, next year will be a BLAST for sure!!!
I jumped back into creating stamp designs and doing graphics for Simon Says Stamp. Hopefully you saw our DieCember and You Have My Heart releases. They are fantastic! We have another release coming in mid February which is great as well. I'm in the midst of designing our Early Summer release stamps right now.

I'll bring you to up to date to January... CHA

I was part of the Ranger Designer Challenge for the Ranger booth. I was privileged to participate in this challenge using the new Distress Crayons. I was given the brights set to work with but was able to get my favorite muted tones by adding a little Walnut Stain ink to them.

The canvas size is 9x12". I used Tim Holtz's Tattered florals and Tattered Poinsettias for my blooms.

I think it turned out pretty!

So my troubles of getting it to the booth at CHA... OI.

On my way into the show (wearing my cutest Dansko shoes for comfort)... I walked over some uneven brick and caught an edge of my shoe. Down I went...harder than ever. Ripped a hole in my jeans and skinned my knee on the right leg and really twisted my left ankle. A lady helped me up and to a bench. I had my "Chucks" in my backpack which I immediately put on... something I could tie tightly for support. I gimped my way in to the hall and put my canvas on the display, said a quick hello to Mario and gimped back outside. By that time, my possie was gathering and I went to the first aid station. I got wrapped, bandaged and iced, the girls brought me a scooter to ride around in.

Have you ever hurt yourself and the immediate pain subsides shortly after? This didn't happen, after a few hours I decided I needed a doctor to look at it. I grabbed a cab and off I went to the hospital. I came back with a half cast and crutches. I had a real live sprain, nothing broken, but a sausage for a foot and ankle.

When I got home I saw an orthopedic doctor who told me after more X-rays and exam that I had torn ligaments..., not just stretched... sooooo I got a boot. I'm not one to be kept down... so having a way to walk was really a relief for me.

Two weeks later... I'm still having pain and swelling in certain areas, sleeping is a challenge, but I'm dealing with it. I guess me and my boot will be friends for awhile longer.... at least it matches my wardrobe!

Onward and upward! Enjoy your day!

Here are some supplies from my Designers challenge canvas.

Love the artwork...the ankle is bizarre! I did the same darn thing in high school, playing basketball. I truly feel your pain. It will take a long time to heal but at least they have boots now. They didn't have them back in the 60's. Your art work is always an inspiration to us all. Thanks for sharing!

Holy scamolly! Your ankle is painful to look at. I did the same thing, so I know how painful it was. But on to your art, which is amazing. I really like your art, and your tutorials and youtube videos. It must have been a blast to create with Tim in his studio. I hope your ankle heals well.

I knew the middle one was your before I even read that it was. Falling is the worst. I fell four days before Christmas only on my face. Lol. Praying the pain subsides for good.

Shari - I feel bad for you being laid up so long. Just remember, "This too shall pass". Although not soon enough for you I'm sure~ I loved your project for CHA and it actually inspired one from me!

You're such a tiny looking gal it's hard to believe your foot could swell that large! Looks so painful Shari!! Take care and I love your canvasfrom your weekend at Tim's and your canvas for CHA. TFS

Oh, Shari, I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. I hope your foot heals quickly, though I'm sure you still look chic and sophisticated in your boot! Love the canvas project.

Oh you poor, lame little thing. So glad, though, that you can get around without a wheel chair. Ligaments take so long to heal...but they will and you'll be off like the firecracker you are. Take care and don't do anymore day tripping for a while.

Such gorgeousness! As always!
The photo of your ankle hurts me, just looking at it! You brave girl! So glad to hear you are on the mend and feeling better. Hopefully sleep deprivation causes creative thoughts! :)
Thanks for sharing your fun!

Sorry about the fall. Hope you're back to 100% real soon.
I LOVE the canvases that you all made at Tim's.
Your CHA project is amazing too.

Oh my gosh, Shari! Take 2 Aleeves every 12 hours until you can manage your pain. It will do wonders. I don't know about the ligaments, but laying a wash cloth over the swollen area and saturating it with rubbing alcohol will make it feel better faster and we wrap a Walmart bag around it just to keep it from evaporating while watching tv or a movie. =D. It will make you peel later, but it does wonders too. Your projects are beautiful! I do miss your posts, but know you're working on far more important stuff and I'm sub'd to a gazillion blogs, so I don't really know you're not posting until you post. LOL. Know what I mean?

Ouch! Your ankle looked so painful. I love your work, Shari. When I saw the "Stacked Animals" I knew it had to be your design. Take it easy with the foot.

That is quite the story...adventures at CHA! The floral canvas is gorgeous...I have heard that the distress crayons "are all that!" I'll have to give them a try. Thanks for the great post.

I do hope you are way better now. I've done the boot thing---3 times! My biggest problem was my back. Seems you're not supposed to walk like you normally do! (I was a fast walker from way back, then 35 years of nursing reinforced it!) My back pain got way better when someone finally told me to s-l-o-w down. When I thought about that and remembered, my back didn't get all wonky. Hope you aren't having that problem, but thought I would share my tip in case you are!!! Get well soon.

Oh my goodness Shari! Not fun at all and such a bummer to have it happen at the start of CHA! My sister just went through something very similar so I feel your pain! Hugs!
