They've Hatched

For years now we've been fortunate to have Praying Mantis's reside in our bushes around the house. One of the thrills is to watch the pods for hatch-lings as each one contains hundreds of baby's. This spring we examined the garden and counted over a dozen pods. That's a lot of critters. I missed that hatching process, but was able to catch a shot of this one yesterday.

Cool isn't it?
:o)

Hi Shari :) It's nice to see someone who appreciates "bugs" and respects them as part of nature. Yes, praying mantises are fascinating little things. I love when they first hatch... they look so tiny and cute! Thanks for sharing your love of nature. Hopefully you've inspired others to appreciate it a little more as well!

Ha! Well then you must share with Dani about how we avoided caterpillars crossing the road when we first moved to Illinois. It was madness!!

I can't wait to see these little buggars!

Great photo Shari! They are such amazing little creatures. We get a ton of them here too. I will have to go take a look around the landscaping and see if any have hatched yet.
