30 Day Coloring Challenge Blog Hop!

Welcome to The 30 Day Coloring Challenge Blog Hop.  Kathy Racoosin from The Daily Marker loves to color and she is hosting her second 30 DAY COLORING CHALLENGE.

The premise of the challenge is to color something everyday even if it’s for five minutes. It doesn’t matter what you color or what you are coloring with. Today Kathy has assembled all of the teachers and guest artists that taught in the popular “Copic Markers for Cardmakers” class on Online Card Classes

Each of us along the hop is creating a colored piece using our favorite tools. Mine happens to be color pencils.

One technique I forget about, but really love is to use my pencils on color card stock. I've chosen Smoke card stock from Simon says Stamp as my base. Then I white embossed the Tim Holtz Flower Garden images (with a little help from some masking fluid to place the stems behind the blossoms).

I used yellows and golden toned pencils to color my flowers and soft grey to add a slight shadow for dimension.

I've shot a video of the process, you can watch it below or in HD on my YouTube channel.  I hope you enjoy!

At the end of the hop Kathy from The Daily Marker will have a one time only Coupon Code for $5.00 off the Online Card Class “Copic Markers for Card Makers” to get your mojo going, and a discount code to the Simon Says Stamp store!!

Your next stop on the hop is to Simon Says Stamp!!

Thanks for coming by!

It is awesome. Trying on darker cardstock is great idea.

I have an abundance of colored cardstock that I know I'll never get through. I'm going to start coloring on that, rather than white. It's a great way to do single-layer cards that still pack a punch of color! Thanks for the inspiration!

Robin Cooper said...

Beautiful!!! I never would have thought that a flower could look so beautiful on gray card stock. Two questions I have though, I've never seen anyone use an eraser on top of their coloring. Was that to help it blend and to get rid of the individual "lines" of coloring? If so, I'm loving it. And, did you use those same erasers to get the coloring off of the embossing on the cone part of the flower??

Taunya Butler said...

WOW - and Then WOW again - this is amazing - you are so fun to watch and your coloring is perfection!! What a lovely card you have created and shared with us - so beautifully done!!

I'm so glad to see you using this stamp set. I love it and thought it would be easy to color with watercolors, etc. It's a little harder than I thought and I have used a no line watercolor technique that came out okay! A distress marker technique came out okay, too. I love the colored pencils on the colored cardstock and will definitely try this. I need to practice lots more, but I love the flowers in this set and especially the coneflower. Thanks for the great idea.
