Simon Says Stamp Winter Twinkle Blog Hop!

Hi everyone! Welcome to my stop on the hop! Winter Twinkle has been one of my favorite kits so far, because I LOVE to emboss! To have a kit designed around embossing is pure BLISS!

I've put a card together featuring one of the bigger stamps from the Sparkle and Shine set with Liquid Platinum embossing powder.

I hand cut a circle from two sheets of cardstock to create a bit of a window, then sandwiched some sequins between a vellum piece and white card stock from behind.

I've stamped an additional message using Sea Glass ink and added it plus some sequins to finish my card.

I've put together a video of the process.

Giveaway!!!
Simon Says Stamp will be doing a giveaway from every stop on the hop. Please comment on this post (and all others along the way) by 6:00pm EST on Saturday, November 29. A winners list will be posted on the Simon blog Sunday, November 30.  Good Luck everyone!

Here's something fun. How did you first learn to heat emboss? Did someone teach you?

Your next stop on the hop is to the marvelous and super talented Kristina Werner!

If you happen to get lost along your way, Here's a list of all the stops:
Shari Carroll  • • • You are here! :o)

I first saw heat embossing when my sister had been to a stamping/crafting store to get things for her wedding invitations, we hand-made them. We didn't have a heat gun at first, we held the cards over the top of our empty but turned on toaster! lol

Gunsan said...

I first came in contact with heat embossing through friends at work who were already knee deep into this hobby. They were showing me some tricks for the "thank you"-cards I wanted to make after my wedding. I ended up heat embossing 60+ cards using tweezers and a toaster (!)....

I took a cardmaking class and was totally awed by heat embossing. I loved it from the minute I was introduced to it.

I learned to heat emboss in a class at Archivers and loved the magical effect it created on my cards. I have experienced some frustration along the way but have learned to love embossing. Thanks for all your inspiration and I always love your cards and art journal projects.

Unknown said...

You never fail to inspire me with your art journaling pages and especially cards. I first embossed at a SU event, we were shown how to do it but no explanations of what or how to do it. I never again used EP. That was about 12 yrs ago. I recently purchased EP and heat tool and after watching Jennifer MCG I began again and I love the magic of it. Its like WOW!!!

Super cool kit, and awesome card, as well! Thanks for a chance at this giveaway! I have a question, the other day I was embossing using Ranger's white embossing powder on Bazzill cardstock, and when I was done a part of the embossing powder disappeared, and only the colour left by the Versamark was left! Would that be because I over heated it?

Shari, here's when I first saw heat embossing. My daughter invited me to go with her to a Stampin' Up! party. On one card we made, we had to heat emboss. Because I have neuropathy and burn all over, I was so scared of getting my fingers burned by the heat gun. I made the demonstrator hold the paper for me. Later, a friend and I went to Archivers' card making classes. I got practice heat embossing there. Finally, I bought my own gun. I love watching the embossed areas turn colors as the powder melts.
